JOUY EN JOSAS (YVELINES) is a little city close to
VERSAILLES ( 2.5 miles) and 12 miles South West of
PARIS.
It's a very old village, its name appeared for the first time at the
thirteenth century. In 1760, a young German, Philippe Oberkampf,
created a new industry,
the Toiles of Jouy, which employed more than a thousand workmen.
Today, 7800 people live in Jouy in three main areas: the village, along the
river Bièvre, 'Les Metz' (North) and The 'Val d'Albian' and 'Parc de
Diane' (South).
The Toiles of Jouy industry no longer exists, but new activities
such as the
Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA), the
Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC, the best Business School in
France), the Thomson Institute are now very important for Jouy en
Josas
